Tam Lee Tat - painter

Tam Lee Tat was born in Hong Kong. She submerged herself in finding her art path by studying many aspects of art form, including 3D animation, illustration and fine art. In 2011 she graduated from her fine art Higher Diploma study majoring in painting in Hong Kong Art School. Her finding did not stop right there. She then enrolled at the Florence Academy of Art in 2017, a school dedicated to the study of realistic and figurative art in Italy. She indulged herself in exploring the academic drawing and painting techniques, the same year she started to study human anatomy and making écorché. Her endeavour opens up the door to create from imagination. On her journey, she is capable of painting from life and from imagination. In 2019, she  graduated with the three-year diploma in painting and received 2 times scholarship in second and third year. Today she is a full time contemporary realistic painter based in Hong Kong.

Her art journey continues with painting her own works and teaching drawing and painting. She also spent a year living in Tasmania, a place that inspire her a lot. Living close to nature made her want to know more about the power of nature, and she began to explore this side of knowledge. By continuous learning, her works continue to evolve. She is inspired by things around her. It is for sure to say that, her works is personal and also meaningful.

From my own words...

Through the observation of nature and the study of human anatomy, I have found creative inspiration in the environment and objects that I come into contact with every day. Besides, it also allows me to freely and flexibly wander in the field of creation. That is to say, in the absence of comparison, the images in my mind are presented on the canvas from imagination and memory.

Painting is not only technique, it is also the mind. Through seeing and reading, both help each other to enrich my mind and my works. We cannot find new idea but we can go deeper into ideas.
